How do you ensure my new fence is installed exactly on the correct boundary line?

Boundary accuracy is crucial when installing any new fence, especially in residential areas where gardens often sit side-by-side with little space between properties. We ensure your fence is installed exactly on the correct boundary line by following a careful, well-structured process that prevents disputes and maintains clear property rights.

During your survey, we begin by reviewing any existing boundary markers such as old fence posts, concrete bases, walls, shed lines or landscaping features. These often give a good indication of the original boundary. If the old fence has collapsed or been removed, we look for post holes, gravel board remnants or changes in ground level to trace the original line.

If you have property deeds, housing developer plans or Land Registry information, we can refer to them as an additional guide. While these documents often show boundaries in simplified form, they help confirm the general alignment.

We then mark out the boundary using string lines, pegs and precision levels. This makes sure every post is aligned correctly before digging begins. The fence is checked throughout installation to ensure nothing shifts out of alignment.

In situations where neighbours have concerns or where the existing boundary is unclear, we recommend having an open conversation with the other party before work begins. Most boundary disagreements are resolved easily with clear communication. We can also install the new fence just inside your boundary if needed, which avoids legal issues but still provides full functionality.

Our goal is always to install your fence exactly where it should be, giving you a secure, accurate and long-lasting boundary that respects both properties.
