Can you install fencing in narrow passageways or tight spaces?

Yes, we regularly install fencing in narrow alleyways, ginnels, side passages and tight access areas. These installations require careful planning, precise measurements and specialist equipment to ensure a secure boundary in constrained conditions.

When working in narrow spaces, the main challenge is transporting materials to the site. Panel fencing may be difficult to manoeuvre through very tight gaps, so closeboard fencing—which is built piece-by-piece—is often the most practical choice. It allows us to construct a full-height fence even where space is extremely limited.

If the passageway is shared by multiple properties, we ensure access remains clear and unobstructed. Gates can also be added to secure private areas while still maintaining right-of-way for residents.

Posts in narrow areas must be placed carefully to avoid underground pipes, drains or foundations. We examine the boundary during your survey and recommend the safest, most stable installation method. Options may include wall-mounted posts, bracket supports or slightly offset post placements.

Whatever the layout, we can design fencing that is strong, secure and visually tidy, even in the tightest of spaces.
